My research focuses on Zhu Xi’s conception of Liyifenshu 理一分殊. Particularly, I explore what does it mean for Li 理 to be one and many at the same time. I aim to employ analytic tools in philosophy to explicate Zhu Xi’s position. Thus, my thesis has two aims of equal importance: 1) to set up the sinological footwork by delineating the relevant concept clusters and terms employed by Zhu Xi, and 2) construct Zhu Xi’s philosophical position on one and many Li based on the framework set up above.
