Departmental Lecturer in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture, Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies

I am a Departmental Lecturer in Modern Chinese Literature and Culture at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Oxford. My research focuses on modern and contemporary Chinese literature, literature-to-screen adaptation, and feminist writing and translation.

I completed my PhD in October 2024 at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Cambridge. My doctoral thesis, 'Branding History: Literature-to-Screen Adaptations and China’s Cultural Memory of the Second World War', examines the relationship between war literature and other media in contemporary China, including film, TV drama, museums, and video games. It explores how diverse digital media converge and interact to shape China’s cultural memory of the Second Sino-Japanese War.

I am affiliated as a postdoctoral researcher with the Institute of Chinese Studies at the University of Freiburg, Germany, where I am developing my postdoc project, which explores the intersection of digital technology and feminist writing in contemporary China. This project is supported by the Margarete von Wrangell Junior Professorship Program and in collaboration with Dr Jessica Imbach.

I obtained my BA and MA from the Department of Chinese Literature at Beijing Normal University in China. At Oxford, I am also a titular lecturer at Wadham College and an associate member of St Antony’s College.
