Jennifer Altehenger (Associate Professor of Chinese History and Jessica Rawson Fellow in Modern Asian History, Faculty of History and Merton College) and Aaron William Moore (Handa Chair of Japanese-Chinese Relations, University of Edinburgh) have co-edited How Maoism was Made (Proceedings of the British Academy/Oxford University Press, 2025).

Jennifer has published a chapter in the book: 'How to Standardise Life in "New China": the Case of Furniture' and has co-written the introduction (with Aaron Moore), which discusses  'The Early People’s Republic of China between Theory and Practice'.

Jennifer has also published an article, 'Room to Experiment: Housing Newlyweds during China’s Early Reform Era' in Rethinking Socialist Space in the Twentieth Century, ed. Paul Betts and Marcus Colla (St Antony’s Series/Palgrave Macmillan, 2024).
