I am very sorry to have to tell you that our much-respected, and very dear colleague and friend, Glen Dudbridge, passed away on Sunday 5 February, after a short illness.
Glen was a pioneering scholar of traditional Chinese literature, which he researched and taught during a career at Oxford and Cambridge. He was also instrumental in building the field of Chinese Studies in the UK. The China Centre in Oxford is, in significant part, a product of his determination to raise the standing of the study of China.
A commemoration and celebration of Glen’s life will take place on Friday 24 February at 2.30pm in the Wolfson College auditorium. The event will be followed by refreshments in the Haldane Room.
